Quote of the day: Too thin is not in says Christian Lacroix

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Someone stupid once said, “You can never be too rich or too thin.” I agree on the rich part but on the thin part I have to strongly disagree. I am tired of seeing unhealthy super skinny young women prancing about looking like they are in need of a Whopper, a Big Mac, and a Chik-fil-a chicken nugget combo. Beauty has never been and never will be defined by how little food you can stuff in your stomach.

Beauty is only meant to be defined by YOU and YOU ONLY, not a powerful sunglasses wearing bob hairstyled fashion magazine editor who shall remain nameless because I really do like her. I just don’t like how she has caused so many women to suffer from body image problems and eating disorders!

“Very skinny women don’t look beautiful in clothes. What I cannot stomach, because it evokes the war to me, is when you can see a woman’s kneecap protruding in its entirety, skinny elbows, or a woman’s chest bones. I won’t tell you who they are because it would be hurtful, but there are certain models I cancelled jobs with because they were too thin. It’s a terribly sad cloning of young women today which actually means that there is no room for anything to stand out – except bones.”–Christian Lacroix

Mr. Lacroix, I couldn’t agree more! Good luck on your fashion show and the continuity of your fashion house.
